HONORARY CONSUL - MIRO MEDVED
In November, 2012 the Republic of Slovenia, Ministry of Foreign Affairs appointed Mr. Miro Medved as Honorary Consul of the Republic of Slovenia in Minnesota.
Miro Medved was born in Trboje, Slovenia and immigrated to United States at age 7.
His family settled in Biwabik located in northeast area of Minnesota where he lived until graduating from high school. Northeaster Minnesota has the highest concentration of Slovenians in the state.
Upon graduation Mr. Medved moved to Minneapolis to attend the University of Minnesota. After 4 years at the university he served in the US Army stationed in Europe in supply and maintenance for the 7th Army Support Command.
From 1982 to 1994 Miro Medved served as Vice President of Boulware Technologies where he was responsible for managing the operations of the company and also held substantial ownership.
From 1968 to 1982 held a number of positions at Minneapolis Star and Tribune culminating in the position of Operations Manager of a large production department.
Upon Slovenia’s independence in 1991, Miro Medved assisted a number of companies in Slovenia to bring products to the US and helped Slovenian companies to obtain Exclusive right for US products. Mr. Medved continues to maintain a strong relationship with the business community in Slovenia.
Miro Medved is fluent in the Slovene language and is one of the original members of the Twin Cities Slovenians organization.
In November, 2012 Mr. Medved received an award from The Republic of Slovenia presented by Minister Ljudmila Novak. The award was in recognition of immeasurable contribution to preservation and strengthening Slovenian national identity among fellow countrymen.
Miro Medved currently resides in Roseville, MN and is married to Karen Medved. He has three sons, Niko, Anton and Aleksi as well as five grandchildren.
